Service Description

This option will take you and your party to some of the gems, including Lallybroch (Midhope), Fort William (Blackness Castle), Doune Castle (Castle Leoch), Inverness (Falkland) and Culross (Cranesmuir) After visiting the first 2 sites as described in the starter package, we will travel north, passing the iconic Kelpies to reach Doune Castle (Castle Leoch) the seat of the MacKenize Clan. Here you can tour the castle and look out over the grounds. I would advise you to ensure you take advantage of the audio guide at this site as who better than to describe the sites you are seeing other than the voice of Jamie Fraser himself. Returning south we head to Culross, (Cranesmuir). In this picturesque village with its cobbled streets, you get the chance to see the Mercat cross where Jamie helps the boy with his ear nailed to the Pillory. Right next to this you can see the house where Geillis Duncan lives with her Husband Arthur Duncan and Laoghaire’s house is just down the lane. Don’t forget to visit the Palace and herb garden where many scenes were filmed including Claire and Geillis collecting medicinal herbs. If you are wishing to have a bite to eat, then there is the Red Lion pub where both cast and crew enjoyed a well earned drink at the end of a hard day’s filming. Our final stop is to the Village of Falkland (Inverness). Where Claire and Frank honeymoon in season one and Claire is being watched from the fountain below her hotel window. The Covenanter Hotel used as Mrs Baird's B&B is a warm and friendly bar/restaurant. You can also discover the Palace and gardens here where the ancient stone kitchen appears as Claire’s apothecary in season 2 at Castle Leoch. Approximate time 8 hours £450 for up to 4 people with an Edinburgh pickup/drop off only. Other drop off/pick up locations are available on request. This may be subject to additional charge. Midhope castle may restricted access due to being a private estate if there an issue with you selected date we will contact and arrangements will be made for a new date.
